Old Mates
I spotted a photo a bit like this artwork some years ago which gave me the idea. I imagine one of the Galahs was yawning but it looked like they were having a good laugh together. I was commissioned to do another version of this piece for Kalamunda Hospital's Palliative Care Unit and I hope that it has brought some cheer to the patients there. Galah Cockatoos are clowns. Their silly behaviour and love of play stems from their intelligence. They mate for life or until one of them dies and they might find another. They can live for up to sixty years in the wild.
