At the time of painting this artwork I lost a very old friend. Someone I had known since I was a teenager. I have named it for that person but there are other meanings wrapped up in this portrait of a female Red Tailed Black Cockatoo. She is flying back to the roost in the last rays of daylight. Her species is very probably in the last light of their existence as extinction looms due to loss of habitat and food. I hope she and her family will prevail.
